iPhone Watch Battery
I’m convinced that the new iPhone 3G has a watch battery for power. I’ve decided to start carrying around one of these to make it through the day.(Battery) It lasted till about 2pm yesterday. I guess I could buy two an AMiPhone and PMiPhone. Maybe that’s why they cut the price in half, so you could buy two.
So I made the assumption that it was my first day at work with my new phone and I’m a heavy user. Combine that with 3G power drain, and you have a dead iPhone around 2pm, but how do you explain this morning. I charged the phone all afternoon and evening, and then unplugged it and went to bed. I woke up this morning to a half dead iPhone, so much for the heavy user.
I confess that I was on 3G all day yesterday, but last night I wasn’t. I was using my home’s wifi for bandwidth, so it wasn’t the 3G that was draining it. I’m going to be very suspect of this phone if it can’t make it though an average day on a single battery charge. What’s going to happen when I travel and I use it as a laptop. Isn’t such a device supposed to be everything I need so I don’t have to use my laptop when I’m traveling?
Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful device and amazing interface. I do have a list of simple things that need to be added.
#1 Prime time settings – I get tons of email through the night from various backups and monitoring services. Back in my Windows mobile days, I could set the phone not to bother me between 11pm and 6am. That way I get some sleep and my wife doesn’t want to kill me or worse destroy the phone.
#2 Battery Meter – I was hoping to find a App in the App Store that was a better battery meter. I’d like to know how long I have left for certain functions. For example, at current battery power you have approximate 45 minutes of talk time, 3 hours of overall phone life, etc. (My guess is they don’t want you to know how bad it really is, and haven’t approved such apps.)
#3 Ringer/Notification Profiles – I’d like more than just silent and non silent as my choices. How about different profiles that have different settings for email, text, voicemail, and phone alerts?
